Dear Colleagues,

It is a great honor hosting the 2014 WFMT World Congress of Music Therapy (WCMT) in Austria. As the founder and Past President of the Austrian Association of Ethno Music Therapy, I would like to welcome you and all WCMT attendees to Austria in 2014.

Contemporary music therapy around the world is not only developing rapidly, but it is also culturally diverse. Therefore we have chosen the following congress theme: “Cultural Diversity in Music Therapy,  Practice, Research, and Education.”

The history of music and music therapy in Austria is long-standing. As of 2008, music therapy has become officially recognized as a health profession by the Austrian government. Since then, we have a strong presence in healthcare settings. I am pleased to announce that the Lower Austrian Government agreed to support sponsoring the World Congress of Music Therapy. Additionally, all Universities offering music therapy train programs in Austria guaranteed their collaboration.

The congress location will be in Vienna, (i.e., pre-congress seminars) and Krems/Wachau (i.e., opening, spotlight, concurrent, and closing sessions). Both cities are part of the world cultural heritage of UNESCO. Austria is a beautiful country and has many historical and cultural places to visit. I am sure that you will enjoy the cultural heritage and unique Austrian hospitality.

We are committed to make this event a great success not only with a culturally diverse scientific program, but also with multicultural experiences.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely Yours,
